Tubers of potatoes cv. Desiree were treated 1 or 4 times with HPP using an atomizer system or CIPC [chlorpropham] for sprout control and stored at 10 plus or minus 1 deg C for 6 months. Tubers treated 4 times with HPP or CIPC showed no sprouting, while the untreated control had 84% sprouting. A single treatment with HPP or CIPC resulted in sprouting rates of 61 and 58%, respectively, compared with 87% in the untreated control.
