Losses in the field and at harvest (in Merida State) and during marketing (in Lara State) were studied for 9 vegetables in Venezuela, viz. lettuces, cabbages, carrots, spinach beets, leeks, celery, cauliflowers, broccoli and potatoes. Results showed the highest percentage of losses at the field level in carrots (28%), cauliflowers (37%) and potatoes (21%), at harvest in cabbage (28%) and spinach beets (17%), and at marketing for lettuces (35%), leeks (20%), celery (48%), broccoli (49%) and cauliflower (33%).
