The effects of 20% carbon dioxide enriched air flow for 24 h a week (carbon dioxide shock), continuous 20% carbon dioxide enriched air flow (CA) and continuous air flow (CS) on the keeping quality of sweet cherry cv. Ambrunes were investigated. A shelf life of 3 days at 13 deg C and 70% RH was applied. After shelf life, 2.0, 2.7 and 3.4% weight loss occurred in carbon dioxide shock, CA and CS fruit, respectively. Losses due to fungi decay (Botrytis cinerea) were 0, 0.6 and 2.9% in carbon dioxide shock, CA and CS fruit, respectively.
