Fully mature, uniform-sized fruits of mango cv. Dushehari were harvested with secateur, treated with ethephon at 250 and 500 ppm and CaC2 at 2 g and 4 g/kg of fruits, and stored at room temperature. Physiological loss in weight and decay loss were minimum in the control and maximum in CaC2 (4 g/kg)-treated fruits. Changes in total soluble solids and acidity were also slow in the control, followed by ethephon, but fast in CaC2-treated fruits. Ripening was very slow in the control fruits but very fast in CaC2-treated fruits. Ethephon-treated fruits showed slow and uniform ripening.
