Internal browning of Pink Lady(R) Cripps Pink (cov): an infantile problem?

The main postharvest problem of apple cv. Pink Lady(R) Cripps Pink is senescent breakdown. Observations in France suggested that this physiological disorder appears late and is due to a nutritional disorder in the orchard. Young trees or those with an insufficient fruit load are especially affected; over-ripe fruits are also more susceptible. The phenomenon becomes more acute when the apples are returned to ambient temperature. Shortening the duration of storage for vulnerable batches should help minimize the problem.
