บทคัดย่อ
The regulation of salicylic acid (SA) on ripening and senescence of apple cv. Starkrimson fruits was investigated by spraying SA. Endogenous SA content peaked at the early stage of fruit development but decreased later. Polygalacturonase and pectin methylesterase [pectinesterase] activities were lower in the fruits sprayed with SA in August before harvest while the effects of 0.002 mmol SA/litre was significant. SA inhibited fruit respiratory rate during storage. The data suggest that SA could delay fruit ripening.
