An experiment was conducted with 4-year-old trees of pear [Pyrus pyrifolia?] cv. Zaosu; the bags used were light-grey double-layered with a light black inner layer. Results showed that although bagging could greatly reduce fruit cracking, the soluble solids content of bagged fruit was reduced by around 1%; the ascorbic acid content was also reduced.
