Effect of pulsing with sucrose on vase life of tuberose cv. Double.

The effect of pulsing with different sucrose levels (2.5, 5 and 10% concentration) at 4, 8 and 12 h duration on the postharvest physiology of cut flowers of tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa cv. Double) was determined. Pretreatment with sucrose at 5% for 8 h increased the vase life up to 18 days, compared to 9.8 days in the control. Spikes pulsed with 5% sucrose for 8 h had the highest percentage of opened florets and the lowest percentage of unopened florets.
