How to apply the NIR spectroscopy to nondestructive quality evaluation of fruit on field
The system to apply near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to nondestructive quality evaluation of intact fruit on-field was developed. The maturity stage of mango indicated by dry matter (DM) and starch contents was sued as a model study. The NIR spectra were measured with a portable type NIR instrument. Several effects involved in the system including environmental conditions and calibration structures were taken into consideration. Finally, the system was successfully established and used to predict ripe-stage quality of mango from its chemical compositions prior to harvest.
